Gene, Several things to read between the lines. 1. They are trying to screw the channel by only supplying lower priced PIIIs to their customers in the ChipDirect (Intel keeps all the profit) scamarama. European distributors are, shall we say, highly peesed off about this.

2. They are trying to sucker the channel into their new chips that nobody wants. Or, I should say, nobody wants at the price.

3. They think the channel is too stupid to buy Athlon chips. Whether they are right or not remains to be seen.
