Hi Kemble, the issue of the parts shortage is not really an issue of fault. It's an issue of how Dell's business model can be improved so as to advert this type of problem in the future. From what I recently read, it seems that the shortage problems are going to be around for awhile. If not caused by an earthquake, the shortages will be caused by demand out stripping the available supply.

Are you going to the shareholder's meeting this year?

carrying some buffer inventories
If Dell had been carrying buffer inventories of microprocessors, it would just mean that they had a stockpile of Pentium III 450s or so when the market was asking for Coppermine 600s.

A buffer of SDRAM would have been nice in hindsight, but if Rambus has taken off they would just have a bunch of boxes of SDRAM sitting around collecting dust.
