ARRGHH- Tony, I wish it were so, but what you said in your post is exactly the tune everyone was playing right before they got blind-sided in '96. If there was a chip cartel, and a cartel a lot better organized than OPEC, then maybe we could be confident therre would be no more cycles. But when you have open competition and everyone scrambling for increased market share, the potential for overbuilding and subsequent overcapacity will always be there.

Tony, >we don't need to be cyclical any more?< Until that has been proven by events the prudent thing to assume is that cycles are still with us.
