Relentless weakness in this stock. While sentiment has been crushed further by the departure of the CEO, investors basically refuse to take it seriously. It has become a solid value among e-tailing stocks, one of very few. I believe that the report on the 8th will highlight what many have realized - that bn.com stands to benefit considerably from the reputation and distribution capabilities of the parent barnes and noble, among other features. It will rise, but it may do so in a surprising manner. With sentiment broken, the magnitude of short positions has risen. Participants will have to cover these obviously, and if the coming call is especially positive, that may represent the opportunity. Still, I would wait for a breakout beyond the original range around 22-25 or so. It may take a while, but I believe it is the best way to really profit on this stock. Just let go of the timing. It may require up to three years for the stock to really break out, and the risks remain, of course. But the odds are very positive - the trend of rapidly growing e-commerce represents powerful forces. What many do not realize is that bn.com does not have to be number 1 in books or anything; the size of the market is displaying exponential growth. But they do need to defend market share at least from several fronts. I have learned patience over the years, but it remains a bit difficult when you have a very good company whose stock price whines and refuses to cooperate like a little baby. Give BNBN time. It will mature, and will trickle into more long-term portfolios. The trend followers will begin to jump in, maybe by summer even. In the short term, I look for a short covering rally next week on high volume, but it may not be entirely maintained. On a longer horizon, one can expect the new developments in the market for electronic books and other innovations to add to bn.com's edge and be increasingly realized by the investment community. It will take patience, though. Good luck, JM
