The China deal also shows that when there is no "not invented here" or "we have too much invested in the old technology" ,or "we don't want to pay royalties even if it means we make more money in the long run", then CDMA wins. These reasons not to use CDMA are irrational but appear to be dominating the thinking of many carriers. Boom times in the mobile phone business allow this sloppy kind of thinking because it isn't punished as quickly as it would be in more normal growth periods. Eventually most will capitulate. While I'm not worried about the masses getting the GG, money managers are probably starting to get it, and eventually I would expect some minor diminution in the GG returns as it becomes more popular.
