yes the fed has let things run away from them and they are letting the market do their work for them...
problem is is that market takes things to excesses and fed should prevent that...
if they raise real rates it is sort of symbolic because market has already priced it in...
of course when they raise rates it becomes more expensive for the banks to borrow from fed itself so spread becomes narrower so they must raise rates to customers or not lend to riskier people because margin is lower....
