Why Ruffie, the opportunities are obviously quite different for a company with $80-85 million in cash, no debt, TDMA/CDMA patents, and a building block IPR approach that could land it in many interesting and profitable places in wireless. What is visible about tight-lipped Nokia's CDMA strategy is the co-development deal with IDC revolving around the adaptation of IDC's BCDMA technology to WCDMA. And that necessarily leads you to an IDC partner, Texas Instruments, which has over 50% of the global DSP market. Stay tuned for TXN's 2/22 major DSP annoucement. You can pre-register now for the webcast. This should be interesting in light of Analog Devices' recent announcement that indicated that by essentially converting all ROM (read only memory) functions to RAM (random access memory), the lowest possible bill of material for a complete GSM handset is now $40 - number of components down from 200 to 100 and 30% cheaper than the previous lowest bill of material available.
