I really like the color pink, adore it in sweet-huggy-cootie amounts, actually thought of doing the house-outside in it this year while I was up in the shower today, but when it becomes associated with girls or girl's stuff ("girl's stuff" hurts to even say), it's a different, depressing, matter.

So I understand your boys.

What I don't understand, is why girls don't understand, and leave pink alone.

I just saw Three Seasons- it's a new to video release- YOU MUST SEE IT. I think it is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. It is beautiful and full of hope. It is about life and love and redemption and beauty. So I guess it is really about everything.

I don't recall my sister playing with Barbie dolls. She played ice hockey, and until today retains certain...uh... masculine tastes. She likes girls, to put it bluntly, though not the Barbie type.

I did once sneak out in the swamp with a friend who had snatched some dolls from a sister. We brought .22 rifles, and I don't want to offend your sensitive ears by describing what happened. If kids were caught at such antics today they'd be locked up.

I have resigned myself to the notion that my daughter will someday demand Barbies, and that I will buy them. With accessories. I have already purchased fuzzy pink piggies and any number of frilly lacy dresses, pink handbags, and other feminine accessories, so I suppose I'm prepared for the inevitability of Barbie.
