Gottfried

We had a modest upturn in US rig counts this week so maybe the seasonal decline is over. Your chart seems to indicate that the turn comes earlier when the year begins with strong prices (strong may be an understatement this year<vbg>). 1996/1997 might be examples and they turned upward in early February.
US 757 up 2
CAN 545 down 13 - hard to read Canada - fluctuates so much - still way up Y-O-Y.
GOM 124 up 3 - maybe an upturn here too.

Gottfried, one last comment on rig count cycles:

Go to the BHI site and look at the chart for US rotary rig counts since 1950, you'll get the picture, big time.
