There is a difference between the image being painted on the threads, and paint residue being on the shroud. There may well be traces of paint on the clothes you are wearing simply from being in contact with painted surfaces.

The image appears to be singed onto the surface of the fibers. There aren't particles of paint adhering to the cloth where the image is. The color doesn't penetrate the fibers of the cloth, only the the very surface is affected.
