Not kidding about why i don't have cable tv, R.E.B. Doing OK stockwise w/o it & doubt would do better with it, getting distracted all that noise & info i don't want or need. When the internet and tv interconnect ... when i can program the the ticker selecting music & news choices coming in (like choosing a homepage now)... would think about getting it, if it isn't obsolete. For now, waaaay too much input of nonessential info! Limit tv = live a more active life. Doubleplusgood!! Never did watch much tv. It usually puts me to sleep! TV never did know how to keep up with me... CNBC IS the best show & the most entertaining ! But still, it'd spoil the workaday mood i get going my own quiet ritual way, so it's possible to sit in front of this computer for hours and hours with a smile. TV's slower than speedreading the web jogging DD trails. Efficient fast stockwatching gives me more time for R & R. 2MAR$ way of the tv on with the sound off grooving on the Stars Of The Wall Street Monolithic Financial Empire right here in my living room would be more my speed - til i'd be inevitably turning the sound on... then there goes my good mood & concentration... then get more comfortable to watch it til before ya know it just resting my eyes ... zzzzzzz - fuggeddabouddit. An hour of Bloomberg news on radio is more than enough ... prefer either listening to nature's music or good rock 'n roll when the market's pumping up to kick up the jam. Reception's fine here with NY broadcast channels offering enough news, business shows, and entertainment so there's always something to watch whenever. Would subscribe to cable tv if this weren't the case. Hope this isn't OT on the CNBC Critique Thread, it just might be helpful feedback to improve it. *** HURRY UP CNBC !! ***BE THE FIRST to Get That WebTV thing going so folks could program you to their own moods! ***THAT MIGHT SELL ME !!! ***Let these guys n gals choose more or less Maria or Bonnie or Ron or Joe, fave stocks/sectors/CEO's etc., autoon/autooff alerts from the daily schedule - Right? Most what I have seen of the show is good ... but the vibe - the hyperness of the talk, yuppification, volume louder on ads, misinformation, and Oh My the shreiks the mumbles the ear-splitting voices ... and what are those, those THINGS, are they subliminals knocking from the order of presentation?? = An Avoid. And I'm not the only one doing better at stocks not watching The Stock Shopping Shows. Just Staying On The Internet & doing fine. *** Along with looking for new letters at the ends of the tickers in Barrons ... gets newsprint all over my fingers ... but it's the only way to get 'em & well worth it. NEW LETTERS ON THE END OF TICKERS is something the Stock Shopping Shows SHOULD be reporting for individual investors and they NEVER DO. If they start, cable might be worth it !! For now, excluding media de-sensitization keeps me sane ... Can often feel what the market's going to do next on my own from pure visuals & no noise input (i'm one of demdars). If/when time comes to rethink present mode (like if my stocks start to not go so well) would turn on a dime. Til then, No Cable For Me it's workworkwork playplayplay But thanks for the offer, R.E.M! <gg> Joana
