-FUJITSU SIEMENS COMPUTERS: Fujitsu Siemens Computers launches notebooks with Mobile Pentium III and Intel SpeedStep technology

M2 PRESSWIRE-1 February 2000-FUJITSU SIEMENS COMPUTERS: Fujitsu Siemens Computers launches notebooks with Mobile Pentium III and Intel SpeedStep technology (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Bad Homburg/Munich -- Fujitsu Siemens Computers' high-end notebooks are now becoming even more mobile, as the new Intel technology, combined with high-performance processors, offers optimum battery life. To coincide with Intel's announcement of the new Mobile PentiumIII processors with Intel SpeedStep technology, Fujitsu Siemens Computers introduced the first two notebook models containing these processors - the LifeBook E-6540 for corporate use and the LifeBook X-7550 for the high-end sector - confirming Fujitsu Siemens Computers' technological lead in the notebook area.

The Mobile Pentium III processors with Intel SpeedStep Technology, and 600 and 650 MHz respectively, offer high performance and, with the power-saving technology, can also run independently of the mains network for longer periods than previous processors. "With this new power-saving technology, our notebooks now give enhanced mobility for the power user", says Nick Stacey, Vice President Mobile Business, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"We have achieved high mobility here without sacrificing performance - on the contrary, our notebooks offer processor performance which compares very favorably with those of high-end desktop PCs."

The new top model LifeBook X-7550 uses a Mobile Pentium III processor running at 650 MHz and SpeedStep technology and, in addition to high processor performance, offers a 12 GB hard disk, 128 MB of RAM and a user-friendly 15.1" TFT display. The LifeBook X-7550 is an appropriate high-end desktop replacement and is available from the beginning of March at a price of about Euro 5,000.

The ideal notebook for professional users is the Fujitsu Siemens Computers LifeBook E-6540, whose high performance can be attributed to its Intel Mobile Pentium III processor with 600 MHz and SpeedStep technology. With a 9 GB hard disk and a 14.1" TFT display, it is just as suitable for use as a desktop PC, but weighing only 2.7 kg it also offers best portability. The LifeBook E-6540 is available from the middle of February at a price of about Euro 4,000.
