You may be right (but I still think this market could use a wake up call). It will be interesting to see the choice of words the FED uses with their release (now that they are dropping the bias-type statements).

I think the Greenman needs to indicate that the FED is ahead of the curve. Obviously a quarter point is already in the market.

Brinker usually says watch what the FED does, not what they say. However, IMHO - in this situation, both may very important for an indication of future rate action.

The previous rate action may start to have a slowing effect on the economy soon, coupled with other factors such as sustained oil prices,
lower post-Y2K money supply action, etc.

And don't tell me the Fed is "above politics." Everything in government is politics. The Democrats don't want to have the stock market stabbed in the back right in the middle of a presidential election campaign. Taming inflation will just have to wait a while.
