Mike and Carl,

I concur with your thoughts as well. I also appreciate mad's skepticism and must commend that there is at least some civility in his argument. However, given the coverage generated last time the press geared up about Zicam and the recent VPHM surge, I would seriously question his timing to enter a short position. Even if his predictions prove prophetic (I believe otherwise), wouldn't it be reasonable to expect the short term price to rise significantly. Since he likes the Quigley example (I don't), let that be a guide. Did the stock peak before or after the massive media coverage following the release of clinical study results?

Mike my short is based on what I percieve to be a trading opportunity and the seasonality that I percieve in the Zicam business.
With the second study out and GUMM's earnings out I'm not aware of anything substansive that would drive the stock to a new level.
Excepting perhaps a hugh leap in revenues for the 1st qtr.
I haven't called GUMM to question revenue for Jan and orders booked for Feb, however if I were a shareholder and long GUMM I would do that as thats what could push the stock up. In the absense of strong revenues in the 1st qtr GUMM could easily sell off through the summer, possibly making another run at a new high next "cold season"
In fact I might follow whatever price pattern GUMM demonstrates this summer with the prospect of going long myself and playing the "expectation of wild results next season"
A lot will depend on the general health of the market as well and where GUMM settles into this summer.
Based on the new study and strong revenues I do doubt that GUMM will get below $10 this summer as Zicam will have 1 more year of "the promise" of great sucess and again stocks go up on rumor and hope and generally sell off on the actual news or reality.....
Anyway, we'll see what pans out. Anyone who does get GUMM information on Jan sales and Feburary bookings I'd appreciate hearing it.
