''Inventory levels at Samsung and Hyundai suggest the DRAM market supply and demand is well balanced, with little risk of a sudden swing in DRAM prices in the near future,'' said Jon Chong-hwa, an analyst at Salomon Smith Barney KEB Securities.

Hyundai Electronics Industries Co is the world's largest maker of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) in terms of capacity, and it and Samsung together claim about 40 percent of the world DRAM market.

The global DRAM market is forecast to grow by 24.6 percent to $37.7 billion this year, following growth estimated at 31.5 percent in 1999, according to industry group World Semiconductor Trade Statistics.
