RESEARCH ALERT-Baan raised to "Mkt Perf"
AMSTERDAM, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Friesland Bank Securities said on Monday it had raised its recommendation on Dutch business software maker Baan (NasdaqNM:BAANF - news) to ``Market Performer' from ``Sell.'

Baan's final 1999 Q4 figures were slightly better than preliminary results. Friesland Bank said it expected Baan to post a 2000 loss per share of 0.13 euros, against a previous forecast loss of 0.11, but added it expected a strong recovery in 2001, which could spill over into 2002. It saw Baan's 2001 profit per share coming in at 0.27 euros, up from a previous estimate of 0.22.

Friesland Bank said it saw Baan's statement that it had hired Lazard Freres to accelerate the search for strategic partners as a sign it was looking for a buyer for the group.
