Huei-Sheng Kao,

I agree with you completely. The danger of these delays is that Brocade will become the defacto standard for switches, and they won't have to interoperate with anybody else. I'm sure that's why they are dragging their feet on the interoperability issues. They have no compelling reason to interoperate with anybody else's switches at this point because they control such a large chunk of the market. If Ancor can encroach on Brocade's market share, the interoperability barriers will disappear. (Ancor and Brocade CUSTOMERS will demand that these barriers disappear.)

In my view, your MSFT analogy is absolutely correct, and BRCD isn't going to change until they are forced to do so. Ancor must force the issue by broadening their OEM base and increasing their market share. Taking market share away from Vixel and Gadzoox probably won't be the answer either. Ancor must take market share away from Brocade.
