I may be getting ahead of myself here, but if I have to, I'll exercise them early to capture any Orange shares that may be coming the way of Vodafone shareholders as a result of the merger.

I think you may be better off selling the leaps and buying the shares (rather than exercising) because there is time value in the options. And if your concern is Orange I think you had better do it before the acquisition is announced.

You may want to hold on to any Orange shares if they are distributed because they will be bought out.
