These are not one-time glitches. These are result of a fundamental change in the industry that has effected the supply chain. Dell model relied on supply of component being higher than demand, that is no longer true.

Dell experienced phenomenal growth over the past 4 years due to the supply chain matching the strength of its BTO model. Dell's model is no longer superior. They need to focus on their marketing and quality of product and services. They have been doing a good job.

My question is how close is the price of DELL to properly account for this shift in the supply chain, and how close is DELL from being a good buy? I think we are close.

Swiss 1999 Computer Sales Rise 14% to Over 1 Mln, Paper Says

Zurich, Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Swiss personal computer sales rose 14 percent last year, exceeding the one million mark for the first time, as consumers were undeterred by the millennium bug, Swiss daily, the Tages-Anzeiger reported, citing an industry report. Dell Computer Corp. of the U.S. sold 47 percent more computer systems in Switzerland last year, while Acer Computer International Ltd. of Taiwan raised its Swiss sales by 50 percent to 48,006 computers. Compaq Computer Corp., which has a fifth of the Swiss market, retained its lead selling 14 percent more, while Apple Computer Inc. increased its market share by 2.4 percent, with sales of 67,300 computers.

COS Computer Systems AG, a Swiss online used computer and software retailer, has seen its shares rise 44 percent this year as investors sought to profit from growing use of the Internet and e-commerce.
