If it comes down to a race between Gore and McCain the victim will be Social Security reform/replacement . If we blow this opportunity, there will be no change for another generation. It will suck up more and more of the nations wealth until the whole ponzi structure collapses under it's own weight and a lot of people get buried.

What's striking is what I remember about 1980. Granted the candidates on all sides were better but what strikes me is how all the Republicans trained their fire on the failures of the Democrats. Sure, GHWB ran a whispering campaign that Reagan was too old, but that was demolished easily.

But here we go again, with all the dwarfs, like Forbes, trying to destroy the eventual nominee. And what will Forbes have accomplished? The nomination of the one candidate who really doesn't want tax cuts or to reduce the role of government. The one Republican who is clueless as to governing philosophy.

Such divisions twice elected Clinton. Can't they see that?
