Paul - Again you are preaching to the choir - the reliability of the big Unix systems is as good as the market will pay for... A good point on VAX - the same HW running DEC Unix (or whatever it is now) shows lower reliability. Therefore this is hardly a HW issue - the reality is that the management procedures and applications routinely run in those environments will cause occasional downtime, either scheduled or unscheduled - and the customers think that's fine, and won't pay much incrementally for better availability, even if they could, which usually they can't...
