Per Anchorage Daily News: Tesoro is considering closing its Kenai AK refinery, which lost $3 mil last year. Decision to be made by April 30. They're also considering other cost-cutting measures as alternatives.

CEO Bruce Smith also complained of the Alaska AG's investigation into possible price-fixing , which has cost TSO $2 mil for document production, attorneys, etc. So, this may be a ploy to get the AK AG to back off, since closing the refinery would cost 170 jobs in the Kenai area.

My take: just political maneuvering.
