theis was the personal experience of a good friend. he also said that he had heard bad things from his friends, too. it is anecdotal evidence and maybe shouldn't be extrapolated too far. in any case, buyer beware.

Just hearsay, but Ashford.com has a class action against them for allegedly filing the serial numbers off of used Rolexes, so that they could be sold as new... note that this is a common scam for Rolex watches, since the people who buy them are often buying for status rather than collecting, and are thus less cautious about whether the movement is the correct one, the face is original, etc.

I purchased a new Omega watch from them shortly before Christmas, and it arrived in terrible condition - dirt behind the crystal and not in working order - needless to say I returned it for a full refund. So, I would avoid them as a dealer for vintage or new watches.
