I strongly suspect that in view of QCOM's past legal experience the QCOM IR people have been directed (probably by their lawyers) to say exactly what was reported on the IDC thread and posted here. This probably applies throughout the corporation - it makes no sense and would be quite dangerous for an untrained person to start discussing the scope or nature of patents with an unknown person on the telephone. I am not only unalarmed but would have been concerned if any other answer had been given under those circumstances. Congratulations to all on an excellent thread!
