tekboy: One of the examples of the practical leadership at the Q is that Brent Scowcroft was asked to join the board soon after he left as National Security Advisor.

Assume his excellent relationships with the Chinese leadership and knowledge of China, as well as those with other leaders and knowledge of other countries around the world, was at least equal to his good looks and brainpower as factors in that.

Assume he was invited to the various fund raisers for democratic candidates, but probably declined.

Again the way the Q handles its political concerns shows some sophistication and even balance (sort of).

I have no direct knowledge of how or why any such happens, but admit I admire skill in practical areas as well as visionary leadership.

Re my comment to Eric L, for a long time I signed off every message on the Nokia thread:

Qualcomm and Nokia. Together the world !

A mild way of suggesting that Qualcomm and Nokia could cooperate to their mutual benefit. Ain't happened. So when Nokia did not buy the handset division and did not agree to buy the Q's data chips, I dropped it. Eric L is just joking about that.

Best.

Newbie ... Newbie ... where do you see a Newbie?

Surely you follow the postings of our friend from Helsinki, Finland, where he was a Ph.D. candidate in neurobiology before he gave it all up for the glitter of Wall Street and became a wireless financial analyst.

Our esteemed colleague Cha2 was today referred to as "charming" over there in GSM/GPRS land by one of the more diplomatic (?) IDC hypesters. He even got a smiling emoticon from the crude dude.

<< "HDR is to wireless Internet access as CDMA is to wireless voice service." sums it up nicely, no? >>

I sure as heck HOPE so.
