Jeff,

It sounds to me like you left your old disk hooked up (as disk #2). If you do that, the drive letters will get screwed up as before. You want D: to be the first logical partition on the new disk, and that won't happen if you have your old disk plugged in (unless you delete its primary partition).

If your old drive isn't in the system then I don't know what problem you are having.
