I seems that production is planned for 2002 according to Intel Chief Financial Officer Andy Bryant this morning, on the second day of the Banc of America Securities Technology Week 2000 conference

Intel Chief Financial Officer Andy Bryant said the chipmaker's SpeedStep mobile chip, which was introduced in early January, will be available in speeds of 700 and 750 MHz later this year. In 2001, Bryant said Intel (INTC: news, msgs) will add enhancements to its IA-64 processor family. The first product based on the IA-64 instruction set, called Itanium, is due later this year. As he reinforced Intel's game plan, Bryant added that servers will still be the company's fastest-growth area, beyond the mobile arena. He said, though, that Intel's networking, communication and
wireless growth will continue to grow greater than 50 percent in 2000. Intel also plans to start 300-mm production on 0.13-micron technology in 2002. Lastly, Bryant said Intel's gross margin forecast for 2000 is 61 percent, give or take a few points.
