Athwipe enGle,

re:"AMD is currently sampling a 900MHz Athlon processor."

From DELL:
""Please contact your sales representative for more
information as estimated ship dates for the Pentium©
III Processor at 800MHz will exceed 30 days."

Now I am beginning to understand why you continue to buy AMD stock instead of *ntel.

Bring Willy on, Floppermine is a joke!

From vapor launch to vapor launch.
What a maroon.

Sorry Mickey; need Hector's phone number?

Make it so,
Mysef

Re: ""Willamette," the code name for Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) next-generation desktop processor, will headline the show, and will offer clock speeds of "well in excess of 1GHz," says Pat Gelsinger, vice president and general manager of Intel's Desktop Products Group."

I'm sure the Rag Head is already calling Gelsinger a liar. BTW Gelsinger is the one I heard say CuMine would match K7 in Integer performance months ago, only to be called a liar....

Anyway, I digress... If this report is true, and I have no way of knowing if it is <GGG> then Intel already has highly functional Willamette silicon running on their A-0 stepping!!! The significance of this should send every AMDolt running for cover. This is the first raw silicon. The early version.... No speed path work... No process optimization.... Nothing... and it's running good enough to demo in public!!! That is...if this report is true.

<Jerry and the boys better get the XEROX machines warmed up so they can copy these new Willamette Processor New Instructions !!!>

So, you don't think some of these were added *after* AMD announced new DSP instructions in June?

<Willamette will be supported by a new chips set, code-named Tehama, which will support Rambus Direct RAM with a high-performance bus, ..>

That should put to rest the speculation from a few folks about RDRAM ;-)
<Not to be outdone, sources say that Advanced Micro Devices Inc. will set up shop across town in Palm Springs to brief developers and press on its own latest efforts. >

Wonder what AMD will be demonstrating. 900MHz, 1G, 1.2G, 1.4G?

<While the Pentium III chip will reach 1GHz in the second half, so will Athlon. AMD is currently sampling a 900MHz Athlon processor. The company will also reach 1GHz with Athlon in the second half. >

How can someone even believe that 900MHz are being sampled now but 1G will be "second half"?

Paul - Re: "Willamette," the code name for Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) next-generation desktop processor, will headline the show, and will offer clock speeds of "well in excess of 1GHz,"

Does this PUBLIC demonstration mean that Willy has taped out AND that there is functional silicon? And that first silicon will move out of the starting gate at 1 Ghz?

How can this happen?

The 'Droids assured everyone that this was impossible !!

Paul,
Might as well buy more Intel stock, Intel is going to attempt to freeze the market by showing a running Willy. Then again, what will it be running? and how fast will it be running? and how will it be cooled?
