Elmer - Re: "I digress... If this report is true, and I have no way of knowing if it is <GGG> then Intel already has highly functional Willamette silicon running on their A-0 stepping!!! The significance of this should send every AMDolt running for cover. This is the first raw silicon. The early version.... No speed path work... No process optimization.... Nothing... and it's running good enough to demo in public!!! That is...if this report is true. "

This can't be true.

BAM BAM McMannis already told us Willamette is DELAYED - UNCOMPETITIVE.

And he also said....... BAM !

McMannis ALWAYS has the CORRECT INTEL INSIDE SCOOP !

BAM BAM !!

Just like Merced/Itanium, demonstrated and sampled months ago - but lately the news has been less encouraging.

Meanwhile, AMD continues to quietly pick up additional business, market, and mind share.

PS - But Intel's Gala unveilings of future chips are lots of fun for everyone! Sort of like those weird "cars-of-the-future at the Auto show, you know, the ones where they say "someday it may be possible to actually buy a car very much like the one on display here tonight."
