If we are still early in the process of realizing the benefits of the digital revolution, we will likely be fine....

I suspect your last sentence to be true even though I do not use or for that matter expect to use so many of the newer technologies associated with just the PC let alone all the other technologies which have developed because of increased PC usage.

I am, though, concerned with the effects of an unsustainable "wealth effect" longer term. 8-10% would seem to me to be rather difficult to live with especially if many of the technologies just on the horizon mature much quicker than expected (valuation peaks) while newer technologies become fewer.

However, admittedly, I am a pessimist by nature. There always seems to be an opportunity around the next corner if one is willing to commit a certain amount of risk to capitalize on it. I suppose therein lies the real challenge as to whether one will or will not sustain one's quality of living.
