Cirruslvr, <I wonder if Intel will launch ALL the speed grades below it when it comes along. That would mean 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 GHz at launch, assuming Cumine reaches 1GHz and Willy starts ar 1.4GHz.> Here lies one of the biggest issue facing the CPU guys going forward (more than one player killing the other with price drops). The performance delta between low-end and high-end is diminishing rapidly - especially for mainstream applications. Marketing ever increasing speed-grades seperated by the second digit of the number (i.e., 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc) is going to be a very tough challenge. People are starting to realize this. Articles are starting to appear in the mainstream media that MHz do not matter any more (ex: Walter Mossberg, one of the most influential guys on these issues has been hammering away on this for a while). Even Sharky's wonders if he should recommend the highest speed grade for his "no-holds-barred" systems. It is going to take a lot of new applications and/or creative marketing to keep the current MHz mania going. <And with a large die size and a new, lower standard for launches I wonder how long it will take for a reasonable amount of volume to hit the market.> This is big unknown. I think there is quite a bit of schedule risk here. OTOH, PB is betting with Kash that it will happen. Let's see. Chuck

Cirrus - <1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4> If I were running the show, I would not devise a scheme such as this. I don't believe it will be necessary, as Intel's product map may have other products that can fill the lower slots. Just a thought. PB
