AOL, CMGI, QCOM, YHOO, ICGE: -
AOL seems to have turned the corner, pulled up by TWX's super earnings report. AOL showed strong support at 55. Is likely to trade in 55-65 range until the psychology of the aol-twx merger changes. This is a huge deal, very beneficial long term to both companies, but shorter term, the revaluation of AOL in non-internet terms has caused a shock. AOL-TWX is going to be one of the 5 biggest companies in the US, and an international giant as well.
CMGI bounced right off of 100, the story on CMGI keeps getting better, with the development of Alta Vista as a major portal, free ISP service, and ENGA challenging Doubleclick in the advertising arena. CMGI remains the #1 most attractive stock in my book. Targets by firms are 200 this year and i believe 500 next year.
QCOM sold off after some cautionary comments in earnings report, seems to have turned the corner, should get going again. when it does, it does with a vengeance
YHOO - same story, sold off on excellent earnigs, came down from 500 to 310 or so. has 2:1 split upcoming. think it too has seen support and bounced.
ICGE -excellent B2B portfolio, but huge unlocking of shares flooding the market. don't think the sell-off is done yet, but at some point will be a screaming buy
others: GLW looking strong. stock split announcement 2:1 or 3:1 will help boost the stock
JDSU - wavering here
GBTVK - Granit Broadcasting - positive mention in Barrons by Gabelli - owns TV stations, doing advanced work in digital transmissions. opening gap today, nice little co.
ONT - trying. their internet movie system goes live 2/18, expecting some big announcements and moves around that. has vmail (movies attached to emails) technology. needs broadband to use.
Banks have reacted nicely to interest rate moves.
Drugs are very strong sector.
Airlines next??????
