<<A means around this is to run separate fiber to industrial complexes, bypassing the normal HFC model all together, which is what some operators do.>>

From what I can gather by this article is that they will make a slow entrance. The cities that are listed as being first are suburbs of Providence, with few if any business locations. I am curious as to how they plan on handling the load once they move into the large RI cities. I know that LOAX did a study recently on phone service in RI surveying people about if they would switch (from bell) if they had a choice. I believe over 70% percent said yes. LOAX has made little progress in this area, but COX has the ability and resources to make this move. Recently LOAX has been taking a hit and I just made the connection as to why. If running separate fiber will help the situation, I would say they better start running it. The funny thing is that there is at least one person in every family in RI that works for a cable co. running fiber and they still can't hook things up fast enough! Maybe Case could help them put together a fiber kit that could be mass marketed through mailings, so all could hook up their own. Now there is some food for thought.....
