hi clay,

"Are there any other settings that could be changed or software that would prevent the ISP from cutting me off?"

to my knowledge, only your isp can adjust this time out period. there are lesser settings for inactivity that isp's like aol set, and various programs and fixes work to circumvent these lesser settings. but from what you describe (3 hours), this sounds very much like the specific isp setting.

have you contacted them? plead your case to them and request that they extend the time period. mine did for me. i was being cut off after 5 hours. i told them i was daytrading and couldn't afford the interruption in service. the manager agreed to extend the time out period to 8 hours, which he described as some sort of maximum prescribed by some rule or law. whatever. but i got the extra time and that was that.

check with your people and ask them to work with you so that they can retain you as a customer.

:)
