Hi ZP, when MS said Win98 would support up to 9 monitors I was wondering in What configuration. Perhaps you are right. I don't know.

Regards, /jw

ZP,

>>My gut feeling is it will not work. I think if you want four monitors you need a 4 head OR a pair of dual head cards OR 4 singles.<<

I had the same intuition because of the G400 using its own drivers for dual-display rather than the win98 drivers (if I even have this right).

But a tech support lady at Matrox said I shouldn't have any trouble adding extra PCI cards, even from a different manufacturer.

She said be sure to make the G400 the primary display and to load the PCI card drivers AFTER the Matrox drivers.

Anyone want to be the guinea pig?

wily

Zeus,
I am building a system fairly cheaply. I bought an AMDk6 III 450 MHz with a Jet motherboard, case and power supply for about $200 from Egghead auction. I don't really like the board, it has built-in video and audio, but no AGP slot for future. But I can live with that for now. I also bought a 128MB DIMM for $150, 8Gig Seagate for $110, floppy and CD-ROM, $15 and $32. Using a monitor I already have, and Win95. A pretty fast system for $500. It is not a game machine, so graphics and sound are not much of a concern.

One thing I was not aware of was that when installing WIN95 on AMD >= 350 MHz, a patch is needed. I was able to get that from a local shop. So far, so good.
