Hi Mike, IMO, ALA is and has been a bargain since 18<g>. Based on the block trading going back to last July my guess is there's a fair amount of smart money out there that agrees. The SBC project we'll have to keep any eye out for. France, I with my limited experience feel that's a plus going forward from everything I've read as Europe is generally behind US and that should just add fuel to the fire going forward? The 5-1 local stock split suggests they are extremely confident going forward.

Appreciate your input!

Re: Alcatel's Position in Mobile Phone Market

Thread- Yet another positive surprise for me. First it was DSL, then DCC, then DWDM, and now, mobile phones. I kind of wonder what'll be next? In doing my DD on Alcatel, it's been one surprise after another.

Anyway in an older WSJ article(Feb 11th) I just read a story on the mobile phone market in Europe. Alcatel wasn't mentioned by name, but was in a pie chart showing the world's leaders in mobile phone sales.

Apparently Alcatel is number four in the world in 1999. Behind Nokia, Motorola, and Siemens. -MikeM(From Florida)
