dav, I'm not sure exactly what you're saying, but it doesn't jive with what's known about PALM shares.

3COM intends to distribute remaining PALM shares, as a dividend, to COMS shareholders, but it is not obligated to do so. It is awaiting some rulings from the IRS on the non-taxability of the dividend, and the 3COM board has to vote to approve the distribution. Thus the uncertainty.

As to timing, the distribution will be later this year. I think it's roughly 2 or 3 quarters after the IPO, but I haven't read the latest on that time frame.
