Scott,

What is your latest thinking about when DELL will resume its run for a new 52-week high?

I don't know, and make it a habit to never predict market movement. Here are some thoughts:

The stock will move:

when component supply issues clear up and post Y2K computer demand firms;

when Dell finally shows us how it intends to make money in non-PC based businesses.

The market is all about the future, and so far Dell has not given us any real indication of where its future lies. If the company simply maintains its status quo the stock will languish because it is facing the inevitability of slowing growth.

However, if the company can figure out a way to successfully migrate its model into a new business the stock could well be off to the races. The kind of business I envision is one with significant current sales (allowing Dell to gobble market share), and one with good future growth. Just imagine what might happen if Dell could migrate its model to something like the cellular phone business. I'm not suggesting that the cell phone business is a good business for Dell. I'm simply looking at the broad characteristics of the current market for cell phones.

TTFN,
CTC
