Dear JDN,
You are correct that I am preaching the COMPANY LINE (a interesting way to refer to), if the basic laws of economics qualify as such. I have not seen inflation induced by interest rates before as the main goal of rate increases is to dampen demand. We all know that it will be different this time till it is proven otherwise.

Regards

Alok

I agree that interest rates should be pushed downward. That would also lower the value of the dollar, making our exports cheaper relative to the rest of the world and helping the balance of trade (assuming capacity to make the exports could be found; that may be the current problem, with unemployment as low as it is -- of course, there are probably a lot of shadow unemployed, like me, who are unemployed but not in the official numbers).

JMHO.
