>>Dell introduces all-in-one notebook computer

This is my first post to SI though I have been a share holder for 2 1/2 years and reading SI for as long.

I ordered the new Inspiron 5000 w/650MHz and 192 SDRAM on 1/25. At that time the upgrade from 128 w/2 DIMMs to the 192 w/1 DIMM was $50. With a upgrade to 192 w/2 DIMMs was $100.

I called twice to say that I believed that there was a mistake on the web ordering page. Both times I was told that they had nothing to do with the pricing, but only went by what the computer said. Neither representative cared enough to contact someone that might correct the mistake.

There was also a mistake in DellNet pricing. Was priced at $129 for a year on the order page, but when you added or subtracted it the difference was $96. The reps said it was $75 per year. Neither rep cared about that either. I really can not decide if they were rude, lazy, indifferent or just stupid.

This is not meant to be a bashing of Dell, just a disappointment. If the people on the front line don't care, it does not reflect well on the company.

The pricing on the SDRAM was corrected to + 1 DIMM $600 and + 2 DIMMs $350 several days later and the DellNet is now $99.

Phil
