FYI...Cree shares hit all-time high

<<DURHAM, N.C., Feb 3 (Reuters) - Shares of Cree Inc., a top

provider of blue light emitting diodes, soared on Thursday to an all-time high as Wall Street seemingly took notice of an analyst's strong-buy recommendation issued earlier in the week.

Shares in the Durham, N.C.-based company, which was initiated as a strong buy by Banc of America Securities analyst Alex Gauna, were up $23 a share at $143 per share in mid-afternoon Nasdaq trading after hitting a record $155 a share intraday.

''Basically, as I said, we just completed the techology conference out at Bank of America and did our presentation, but it was the same as on the road show,'' Cree spokeswoman Fran Barsky said, referring to the road show for its 3.3 million share offering effective on Jan. 18.

Barsky said she was unaware of any reason for the shares sharp climb on Thursday other than investors taking note of the Banc of America recommendation.

''I've seen intraday swings, but what can I say,'' she said.

Gauna, a Banc of America technology analyst, on Tuesday said Cree is the world's leading provider of blue light emitting diodes (LED) that complete the LED color spectrum and form the basis for the world's most efficient generation of white light.

Booming demand for the blue and green LEDs, which are used in wireless handsets, automotive instrument panels, traffic signals and full-color LED displays, will help Cree's financial performance through December 2000, he said.>>

LoF: You must really be buying in ALL of your offshore accounts....the CREE share price is going thru the roof <VBG>...I wouldn't be surprised to see a split announcement in the next few weeks.

Best Regards,

Scott
