tekboy,

Merlin, for example, has said in the past that the real danger to i2's gorilla status in SCM is that the big enterprise boys might try to muscle into that market and take it away. Does this pairing make such an outcome less likely, and thus does it strengthen i2's gorillalet credentials?

I think the partnership between i2 and Siebel strengthens both companies and thus helps them compete against the oncoming ERP onslaught. Each company is now part of the other company's value chain.

What I don't know is how much the partnership strengthens the two companies. I suspect that it is not much, certainly not enough to justify today's 10% increase in Siebel's stock.

I still believe supply-chain software is more easily subsumed by the ERP players than CRM software because supply-chain stuff is closer to ERP's back-office core.

Just my opinion.
