TA types say general market still in a bear mode despite today's bounce

biz.yahoo.com

I added to my QQQ short position at 192. I will add again on any spike in the nasdaq tomorrow. I think we are at most 2-3 days from turning around again on the nasdaq and losing 5-10%+ again. If we fail to break 194 (52 week high by much) then I'd say the chart looks very much like a head-and-shoulders formation. Too early to say for now.

I reduced margin further today in my oil stocks. Still have not touched my core holdings, but have almost eliminated my trading positions.

BTW, JohnQP - I have been out of PXD since earnings. At this point I think another retrace back to 8 is possible. PXD's story will take longer to unfold than OEI's and VPI's imho. It does not seem to have the same institutional following of OEI. I would also like to see them reduce debt at a faster pace. If it goes below 8 1/2 again though I'll consider trading it.

PXD? Are you kidding? I made money on PXD last spring, but wisely exited after its runup. Despite sustained recovery in energy prices, the recent earnings report showed very low EPS. If PXD can't make good money with oil in the $20's, the only hope is that their limited exploration program spouts an elephant.
