The Federal Trade Commission is reviewing a complaint by a traditional brokers' group that advertising by Internet brokerages lures investors with unrealistic promises of quick riches and unfairly attacks full-service rivals.

it seems traditional brokers didn't like the ad where the truck driver buys an island, you know, that ad from traditional broker Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's Discover Brokerage?? that one. besides, truck drivers are supposed to be poor and stay poor, drink beer all day and don't fiddle with the markets, they didn't like that either. ___ "traditional brokers were lodging a complaint with the National Association of Securities Dealers essentially complaining that OLB's are presenting the traditional brokers in an unfair light! Can you believe it? Does the NASD have a whining department or what? These guys are getting desperate! Did anyone get the whole story? "
