<<Thank you very much for the BofA conference report. It is one thing in listening to the cc call. It is interesting to hear the high level of analysts interest during a tech conference. I wouldn't be
surprised that some of today's buying were generated from the conference. While I agree with you the revenue ramp is slower than expected, I happen to think they may be a little
conservative in that regard. What interested me also is the diagnostic software which can detect 'foreign' devices on the SAN. Something like that should not take long to write. In my
experience, good tech programmer can write it in a few days. Testing it to satisfaction may take few more days. Schedule for QA and production implementation takes the most time. BTW, it
is SUNW's responsibility. Thanks again.>>

I agree that some of today's buying was based on the conference (in fact I bought some more yesterday in anticipation of such a move). I also think that Ken may be attempting to be conservative on guidance so that a continued positive suprise pattern can emerge over the next year. Perhaps ANCR is learning how to manage the street better. At least I hope that is the case.

Intel acquires a privately held developer of advanced chips used in networking and communications systems, such as switches and routers.

semibiznews.com

"Our expertise in designing multimillion gate communication chips coupled with Intel's market segment focus will speed time-to-market and provide Intel's customers with high performance, cost effective and adaptable solutions."

This can help make forecasting Ancor revenues beyond 2001 an exercise in bobbing for apples. We (Ashok) already figure on $400 million in 2003, 20% of a $2 billion FC switch market. Wanna guess how much the IB switch market will be by 2003? And who might the leader be in that market?

Do we really need a crystal ball? The end of 2003 will be the sixth year for me, one more than I signed up for, but I'm re-upping.
