PB RE... <<<<If Intel's flagship product line is having major yield problems, they should have a DISMAL QUARTER, i.e., outside of guidance (flat to down slightly). If you truly believe Intel is having major yield or binning problems on its flagship line, you should short Intel directly. It would be a lock. >>>> PB, did OPEC lose money when they created the oil shortage of 1972. How many Arabian princes did we see washing dishes because Saudi Arabia wasn't shipping as much oil as before? None as far as I know. How about the Rockerfellers or Carnegies? How poor are they because they ran monopolies earlier in this century. How much money do we expect Intel to lose this quarter because Intel ran NSM, RISE and others out of business this yr, and created a shortage in chips; none. But just as by 1980 OPEC's monopoly was broken, I fully expect Intel's monopoly to be broken shortly. Can we all say "DRESDEN". Now I know from reading your's, Elmer's and Tench's post that you fully expect when Willy comes out Intel will be able to regain monopoly position again. !!!!NOT !!!! Will Willy be faster than Athlon. Probably. But did OPEC regain market share once oil prices dropped in 1980. NO, between 1972 and 1979 the world found other oil supplies and became more efficient oilwise, which created a glut. And the glut stayed for 15 yrs even though OPEC had cheaper oil. Why? Because of the fear of OPEC regaining monopoly control again. LIkewise do you really feel GTW and others will jump right back in bed with Intel and let Intel regain control by limiting supplies over their company. I think it will be a long time before the OEM's let Intel have monopoly power again. Do you really think ASUS and VIA and other Asian motherboard manufacturers enjoy living under Intel's threats. Well VIA wasn't intimidated by Intel's lawsuits very long because I assume by now you have read the reviews on the KX-133. The King is dead; long live the king.
