This was posted on the AMD thread. There has been criticism in some quarters (you probably know where) that Intel has a lot of different chips going on at the moment, and can they all be home runs, or something like that.

My take is Intel is a SILICON company. Providing silicon content in the 64 bit space, the value 32 bit space, the networking space, as well as the mainstream PC space, are natural extensions of Intel's core strength. Intel is the largest semiconductor manufacturer on the planet. It makes sense to have a broad product line, and even branch out into newer business opportunities to leverage its manufacturing base and maximize opportunity.

I mean, we want this baby to keep going up, don't we? :-)
