Vodafone Unit, Phone.com In Mobile Web

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- AirTouch Cellular, a unit of Vodafone
AirTouch PLC (VOD), licensed Phone.com Inc.'s (PHCM) Up.Link
server software for use in its U.S. code division multiple access, or
CDMA, network.

In a press release Thursday, Phone.com, which makes software that allows
delivery of Internet-based services to wireless phones, said AirTouch plans
to offer its mobile Web service on all of its Internet capable CDMA
handsets this spring.

The service will enable customers to gain access to electronic mail, sports,
news, financial and electronic commerce services from their digital phone.

Phone.com shares were trading at 121, up 4 11/16, or 4%, on Nasdaq
volume of 1.4 million. Average daily volume is 1.8 million.
