How much health care and lost wages money has been saved through safer cars? How much lower did the price of oil go through economy standards (except for the recent high fuel SUVs) ... which by the way, didn't oil prices rise recently?

I'm sorry Stock Bull, but I have been retired for over 11 years now, and anything I said would just be a guess. As a dealer I was not privy to much of that info. I do remember that Chrysler had the oldest work force and in 1990 there was a cost factor of some $700.00 per car for retiree insurance.
Recently an friend of mine brought a bill of sale from a 1959 Chevrolet Belair I sold him. It was for $2159, including tax. Remember this car had no air, no power windows or seat - there were no air bags, nor stereo cassettes. Time marches on.
