Sounds like they're dusting off the same smear that was used against Barry Goldwater. Turned out that the real warmonger was Johnson. So far, it is GWB who is trotting out generals galore on his behalf. The U.S. has generally in the past gotten itself in serious military conflicts when led by men who had no real military experience--Johnson, Truman, Roosevelt, and Wilson. Eight peaceful years under Eisenhower, who many claimed would be itching to get back into action. Sorry, this dog won't hunt.
